Greenleaf Trust is pleased to share Chief Financial Officer Steve McKiddy was honored November 10, 2022 with the first annual Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine Philanthropy Volunteer of the Year Award at the medical school’s donor appreciation luncheon.

Steve has been the Chairman of the Dean’s Circle of Leadership Giving for the past two years, and served as the Fundraising Chair for the White Coat Ceremony Sponsorship this fall.

Sponsoring an entering medical student for their white coat ceremony often results in a special bond between the donor and student. Donors are asked to write a personal note of congratulations to the student they are sponsoring and this note is placed in the pocket of the student’s white coat.

According to Jack Mosser, Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Affairs, “Steve’s leadership role has had a transformational impact on encouraging other donors to support the medical school.  His commitment and efforts have positively impacted the outcome of MD students.”

At the luncheon, a first year medical student shared that the McKiddy family has become her family away from home.

President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Odar commented on the honor, saying, “We are extremely lucky to have Steve as a teammate. He brings thoughtfulness and leadership to Greenleaf Trust and the medical school each day, and we are grateful for his dedication to our community.”
