Kalamazoo, MI, January 2015 – Chris Haenicke, Vice President and Trust Relationship Officer at Greenleaf, has been appointed District Court Judge. The announcement from Michigan Governor Rick Synder was made earlier today. Haenicke, 48, of Oshtemo, was an attorney for nine years at the Kalamazoo firm of Lewis & Allen. For the past thirteen years, he has been with Greenleaf Trust.

“I am both humbled by and appreciative of the opportunity to serve Governor Snyder and the good citizens of Michigan,” said Mr. Haenicke. “My only regret comes in knowing how deeply I will miss the daily interactions with my friends and colleagues at Greenleaf Trust.”

In addition to his responsibilities at Greenleaf Trust, Haenicke is a member of the Oshtemo Township Citizen Ad Hoc Police Protection Committee, the township’s Rotary Club, the Southwest Michigan Professionals Network, and the Kalamazoo County Bar Association. He earned his law degree in 1993 from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, has a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University, and is a graduate of the American Bankers Association National Graduate Trust School. Mr. Haenicke is also a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor.

“Chris unquestionably deserves this rare and prestigious opportunity,” said Michael F. Odar, President of Greenleaf Trust. “For well over a decade, he has served our organization and clients with impeccable integrity and distinction. Our loss is the State of Michigan’s gain.”
