Trust Relationship Officer receives Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor designation

Michael Holmes, a Trust Relationship Officer in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was recently awarded the Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor designation from the American Bankers Association.

Michael specializes in providing a trust perspective to all wealth management discussions and coordinating planning strategies with other professional advisors, such as tax advisors and estate planning attorneys. He is responsible for trust administration and holistic wealth management planning for clients. Michael practiced law for 20 years specializing in the areas of drafting estate planning documents, estate and trust administration, probate and trust litigation and preparation of estate tax returns. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Kalamazoo College and his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School.

To qualify for the CTFA certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the trust profession, pass an exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics. The CTFA exam covers many areas including fiduciary and trust activities, financial planning, tax law and planning, investment management and ethics.
